Privacy Policy

Earmark is a menu bar utility that works entirely on your Mac. It does not collect, store or share any personal information. It has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and it makes no network connections.

Your microphone

Earmark never listens to, records or analyzes any sound. It only tells macOS which device to use for sound and for the mic, the same as choosing one in Sound settings. That's why it never asks for microphone access.

What stays on your Mac

Earmark keeps a few settings on your Mac only: the devices you earmarked (their names and system identifiers), whether Earmark and sending headphones back are on, and whether you've seen the welcome window. It also writes short notes about what it switched to the Mac's system log. None of it leaves your Mac, and deleting Earmark's settings deletes it.

Bluetooth

Earmark asks for Bluetooth access only to disconnect Bluetooth headphones from your Mac. Before it does, it checks the device type your Mac already knows, so speakers are left alone. It doesn't scan for devices, connect to them, or read any data from them.

Contacting support

Contact Support… in Earmark's menu opens a draft in your own mail app with the Earmark and macOS versions. Nothing is sent unless you send it. What you write is used only to reply to you.

This website

This website has no cookies, analytics or tracking. It remembers your language choice in your browser only. Like most websites, its hosting providers may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.

Testing through TestFlight

If you test Earmark through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share with the developer the crash reports, and the feedback and screenshots you choose to send, as described in Apple's TestFlight terms and privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Earmark 只在你的 Mac 上保存几项设置：你指定的设备（名字和系统标识）、Earmark 和“送回手机”是否打开，以及是否看过欢迎页。它还会把切换了哪些设备，简短地记在 Mac 的系统日志里。这些都不会离开你的 Mac，删除 Earmark 的设置就会一起删除。

蓝牙

Earmark 申请蓝牙权限，只是为了断开 Mac 上的蓝牙耳机。断开前，它会看一下 Mac 已经知道的设备类型，这样就不会断开音箱。它不会扫描设备、连接设备，也不会读取设备上的任何数据。

菜单里的 Contact Support… 会在你自己的邮件 App 里打开一封草稿，带上 Earmark 和 macOS 的版本号。你不点发送，就什么都不会发出去。你写来的内容只用于回复你。

这个网站

这个网站没有 Cookie、没有统计、不追踪。它只在你的浏览器里记住你选的语言。和大多数网站一样，托管服务商可能出于安全原因保留标准的服务器日志，比如 IP 地址。

通过 TestFlight 测试

如果你通过苹果的 TestFlight 测试 Earmark，苹果可能会把闪退报告，以及你主动发送的反馈和截图提供给开发者，详见苹果的 TestFlight 条款和隐私政策。

如果这份政策有变化，新版本会发布在这个页面上，并更新生效日期。
